Liam, Chef Manager at Wigram, joined us after working in the hospitality industry for 14 years. He started as a kitchen assistant and moved his way to head chef. After working lots of nights and weekends, Liam joined Summerset because he wanted to spend more time with his young family and the role provided better work/life balance.
“I truly enjoy providing meals that enhance residents’ quality of life and health, and the personal fulfilment that comes with that. I feel like I’m really making a difference.” Liam has undertaken some dietician-led courses to further his knowledge on the importance of seniors’ nutrition and the dietary requirements.
“Summerset is a great company that cares about their staff and residents; there are a lot of benefits compared to hospitality, and while the work isn’t always easy, it’s far more rewarding! It’s great being part of a close-knit team that shares the common goal of caring for others”
When asked what skills Liam thinks are beneficial for working in Food Services at Summerset, he says: “adaptability, creativity, strong communication and interpersonal skills”.
